Excellent choice on the frank muller. I was looking at other brands while in lucerne and Zurich but recall prices higher than other eu countries.

How about sending an email to a few ADs to enquire? The final price will depend on ur friend's negotiation skills.

Among Europe countries.. i think London and Switzerland are the most expensive places to buy watches...
But is still cheaper than local AD who is asking premiums for every brands they can lay their hands on.

In Swiss, no such things as selling above list price even for Rare models or special editions from the AD Bucherer.

Why people like buying watches in Switzerland

            Hi

Does anyone knows why many people like buying watches in Switzerland? I went there for tour a few months back and according to the tour guide, he said that due to production demand, some watch brands tend to outsource the making of their bracelets in another country and only the watch without the bracelet is made in Switzerland. However in Switzerland, all watches are definitely 100% made locally so that's why people like getting their watches there, even though price wise might not be cheaper. I checked with another forum and they told me it's bull ****. So I was just wondering the reason why, or is it just simply a mindset, made in Switzerland, bought in Switzerland?

I bought my Breitling Chronomat 01 Limited Edition in Switzerland(Lucerne) simply because it is cheaper as compared to Singapore. However the Rolex Perpetual Datejust that I recently bought for my wife in Singapore is cheaper as compared to the time when I saw it in Switzerland. Singapore more open to bargain so maybe that's why I was able to get it cheaper here.

haha... that was what my tour guide said too! Swiss ppl have more nimble hands... in Asia maybe from HK factory etc

For me, I bought a Rolex during my honeymoon in Swiss as a momento... also because itchy backside as there are so many watch stores there!

Price wise, it's generally cheaper there (after tax rebates) than the retail prices in Sgp without discount. If you are talking about discount, or from grey dealers, then we're talking about another different story.

The main reason would be the availability of the model and dial which you would like. Costwise its actually more expensive overall as its a strictly controlled price especially for Rolex. Net Vat refund is around 7%.

Ya actually I love Switzerland and it's a nice feeling getting watches there. U know it's like buying a souvenir there but u get to use it forever...So it gives u the "sentimental value" that every time u wear yr watch it reminds u of the time u spent in Switzerland... I wonder where the tour guides get these info from. Must be from reliable source that's why they dare to tell us, can't be anyhow ham dam mah....

                    • perhaps the tour guides have been taught by their tour agencies how to convince ppl to buy watches there... so can get the commission

price + - = sg roc better hehe
You are not wrong. Some people are willing to spend a little more to buy from the country of origin. I have a friend who actually bought a pair of Patek Philippe watches from the main HQ in Switzerland, despite knowing the said pair cost much more as compared to S'pore.

Ya.. It's like whenever u go for a trip u tend to buy their local products as a form of souvenir, even though sometimes those things can be found in Singapore...just like in Switzerland, many people rushed to buy chocolates when actually majority of them we can buy them in Singapore
