  • Pre-Owned shops....Quality of Service

check this thread out. So fierce. The sellers look like they are telling the potential buyers off.

    http://www.jwwatch.com/showpro_detai...id=137&cat=197

Recently brought my friend to a BIG pre-owned shop (not the above but the biggest one) that does a lot of consignments. Waited till they opened at 12noon (err, half the day is gone! ). The service that he got was pretty poor. You can see that the shop owners tend to favor certain customers, calling them MR. So and So while the young guy gave my friend an attitude. Maybe he thinks that he's too rich and does not need to WASTE TIME.

Anyway, there are a couple not as popular shop around which I got to know of recently and their service and attitude was quite good. Also really like their business model. I hope that the smaller shops start to make it big and eventually surpass the current 'players' so that they start treating all customers with respect.

What do you guys think of the local dealers / pre-owned watch dealers?

all the stores i went to i got treated well. Some more nice than others, but all in all i find they were pleasant helpful and like any sales, they are out to make sales, yes they will practise descrimination and that is fact of life.

I agree with you.... since you haven't buy anything from them, you can't expect people to treat you as nice as their regulars... so talk to a few dealers and see who can "click" with you... support them with few watches and they will treat you like a king!

Seriously, I find this weird and uncalled for for JW Watch to post such a message in their sales post. Makes them very unprofessional. Well, they may be inadvertently chasing customers away or is it that their customer base is very strong so they are not afraid of repercussions? It beats me...

I have went to their shop before and think their service is quite ok.

I believe the remark was intentionally created to let buyer take note of it upon consider to buy and the cause maybe due to their dispute with the last buyer as this watch was previously indicated "SOLD"

Anyway, it is a nice watch.

agree.on the other hand in this industry, there is plenty of time wasters, they come express interest, ask you to take off your pants, question this, question that, say not worth give you x - y = something stupid, the list goes on.

This not the way to run a business. This sort of attitude will only reflect their unprofessionalism. We know some customers are time wasters, and some are potential buyers. You nvr know if he will return and buy the next visit...if you wanna do retail business,be prepared to encounter all sort of customers. I have been to their shops afew times to buy winder and some accessories.Service so so..but their preowned watches prices cannot make it.

This is the 'cons' of this industry. No choice. There are many ways/methods to handle various situations but this is something "unique", I must say ! If one opens business/shop to expect every walk-in customer to "sure-buy", then he/she is bound to suffer heartache and die young . Coming back, I am of the opinion that a formal posting as such should not have such comments. If it is a private/personal sale like what some of the forummers here are doing, then posting such a message may be excusable. But that shouldn't happen to a company/shop.

I'll faint if THG/Sincere/Cortina/WOS does this...

Ha ha ha.... bro... if you didn't talk so much about the link, I also didn't notice this in their webpage:

"We only sell this Rolex to collector or buyer that has knowledge on vintage watches!"

Cool! Got attitude! Got style! But does it mean they will sell the watch cheap cheap to collector or "buyer that has knowledge on vintage watches"???

That's a good one! Think I'll highlight this to the press and let them pick up a story on it. It may be newsworthy, I guess.

Free advertising for the culprit in question? A blessing in disguise?

bought a couple of watches from jw before. service ok but pretty sad that your dress code is a determinant on their level of service. then again, aren't all retailers like that?

i haven't been to JW before but then again, dress code to them is not important, it's what slapped on your wrist. I once went to an AD, walked in, a sales guy did an overall "scan" of my attire (I was in an old T's, bermudas and really worn out CROCS slippers AND unshaved!) and then the eyes zoomed in to the wrist. He served me damned nice cos I was wearing a GMT. Just my 2 cents opinions...
