  • Anyone seriously uses GMT?

    Just curious.
Have been eyeing 116710, but not sure if I will actually get to use its function.
How easy, user friendly do you think it is?
    I do travel a lot.
Itchy to get... Haha ... Just looking for an excuse.

    Go for it!
But, a digital world time watch triumphs at those "weird" time zones. E.g gmt +5:30

When I used to travel, I just reset the time. Have a few GMT watches but did not really bother. I guess it boils down to habit, or what works best.

        Hi Bro,

I usually buy GMT purely for design purpose. When you are done collecting all the general models, you will start trying to complete all sorts of designs. Just my personal thought

You liking it is really all the justification you need. So many people buy DSSD... how many of them are divers? How many divers dive with their DSSD?

If you can afford it comfortably and you like it, treat yourself. Life is short.

I actively use the gmt function whenever I am in another country with a different time zone. It does help me tell the home time at a glance. Will not work well in some countries with time zones differences that are not by the hour. For that, I remember the difference and add or subtract accordingly. Well, no choice, we do not live in a perfect world right?

In my opinion, the 116710 is one of the few rolex watches whereby it's complication is useful in the real world. Unless I am a diver who still uses his watch instead of the electronic gadgets available to keep track of dive time.

Personally I rather just adjust the time. Perhaps setting the the date back is more troublesome but I don't mind. The feeling of meddling with the watch to change time is a good opportunity to "know your watch better". In short, GMT is good to have but I am equally happy to live without it.

I find the GMT useful for a perpetual or annual calender watch where it is almost impracticable to change back the timezone after returning home.

Whatever excuse you need to get the watch, just use it :-)

I travel frequently and find that my SS GMT 2 C is ideal for a quick glance of home time. Setting the times and using the bezel initially can be a bit troublesome but after a few times its actually routine- You don't really think about it and it kind of becomes automatic. You will enjoy using it and having just to look at the watch is a bonus.

The 2nd hour hand on the GMT II c or the Explorer II is easy to use. It can be set and adjusted in both directions. If you travel overseas alot, and once you have used this function, you'll wonder why you have not used it earlier.

Since you have a nd Sub , it will be worthwhile to consider the TT version which is pretty striking to look at.

It will tell various timezones and will certainly function very well as a dress or casual watch. You're spending quite a fair amount of cash on the SS it might be worthwhile to spend a little bit more and get the TT version. I personally have the SS version and kind of regretted not getting the TT version after around a few months.

I had the same experience.. got the SS GMT II c with PCL at first, then sold it off and got the TT GMT II c. I feel the gold does not show the scratches on the PCL as much as the SS version.
