Customised Rolex worth buying?

Hi there,

I want to ask the Rolex experts here... are highly customised Rolex watches worth buying? See attached image of a ladies Rolex 6917. They look nice but other than the movement and body, just about everything else (dial, crown, bracelet) has gone through aftermarket refurbishment and upgrading. Considering that it costs about US$3k with no box or papers, will such a watch retain its value?

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and some of the models do look great after "upgrade") but I would not want to just buy a Rolex that has no value right after. Appreciate any kind advice. Thank you!

Worth to buy if movement, case and bracelet are original. But I doubt they are original.

I believe movement and case is original... but some models, the bracelet is not... perhaps due to wear and tear. The case still has pin holes so give you a good idea how old the original models are. Still... quite a good way to bring value and life back to older models.

you should ask rsc - they wont even take in the watch for servicing

Haha... good point. But this part... there should be a number of servicing shops other than RSC, right? I own a Daytona and I won't bring to RSC for servicing... way too overpriced, in my view.

My gf wanted "blink" but did not want to spend more than 5k so I thought this would be a nice compromise. From the looks of it, it seems like a bad investment. Oh well...

If you looking at resale value, of course nothing beats the original one. But if you are looking at sentimental values, giving things that someone like rather than giving things that you tot they might like it. They will treasure it and it will be worth it.

Sell ladies size rolex parts for usd3k? I seriously doubt so. Even if you could it might take months/years to sell all the parts. I say if you like the watch with no intend to sell in near future then go for it, if not you will be better off with a all original one.

Worth to buy not worth to buy up to individual.
But if you say not worth to buy, than let me break the watch into individual parts to sell and I still can get close to 3k.

RSC won't service the watch, but others do.

This was actually close to my target... I like the "blink" factor.



This seller has a 100% positive rating and claims that the movement and case is original. Dial is refurbished with aftermarket diamonds. Bezel is custom made with aftermarket diamonds and bracelet is custom aftermarket (not for all of his models though) as well. Returns accepted (pay own shipping) and provides one year warranty including shipping costs for repairs.

So what do you think? Too much blink???

Honestly... if it is around 3k... I don't mind buying. Only concern... if she don't like, I will have to sell it or worse... stuck with it.

PAWNSTARS boss says Rolex in its simplest form, sans bling, is best. So for customized Rolex, I would not consider.
