    • hey Bros, between Brand new Sea-Dweller (eg saw the selling thread $8K) , Brand new GMT IIC and brand new submariner. which one will u go for and why?

and say if u bought the SD for $8K, will the price apprieciate or will drop? say in 5 years time? sorry if it's a noob question.. Will u go for preowned.. any diff between preown SD say 2000-2006 series compared to the M series?

Is it worth to go for preowned SD 2000-2006? why?

And is it worth to go for GMTIIC?
There is a very fine line between this "hobby" and "mental illness."

Look on the wife's face when VISA bill arrived, Priceless!!!!

I will have to "3rd" that. IMHO, you should do this for the pleasure of it.

                • please dont take my post too seriously, i just trying to prove a point across. Some people wear rolex can make money, some people lose money like crazy.

one fellow watch collector whom i bought my omega watch from him a few yrs back.
I paid A$90 for it, at the time, i paid for it myself since my mother got so mad when she hear about me buying watch , so i had to go and find way to finance, then i buy, after wearing 6mths, i go and sell on ebay, and sell for A$135, but the fella chickened out, so i got desperate and sell to pawnshop hoping they offer me something , but no such luck, so i went off to my omega agent, and they said try again on ebay, so i tried, and it bid all the way up to about A$250. i was so happy and sold it.

I was purely lucky that i make money on this watch, and somemore a nice service and a new plexi crystal wouldn't go astray in giving that piece a new lease of life.

so far, my TT baby, i try and sell but not enough to entice me to let go. But i hope that i have the year to play and heopfully can let go. If i make a loss, then too bad, but if my piece appreciates then i have no worries and just enjoy it. Eitherway way, i have prepared myself that this is not an investment piece.

                  • Your Qs very difficult to answer... let me take a peek at my crystal ball first ...

How to compare when u put different types of watches together? Prices are also different.

That said, the SD has been discontinued and it does have quite some fans. I guess u cant go wrong with an SD as long as u dont end up paying an exhorbitant price for one. Likewise for the sub. GMT IIc is a different watch altogether. Get one that 'sings' to u.

                          • Of course, there are exceptions like the lucky dude who paid US$6100 for a BNIB 116710LN GMT IIc at Heathrow airport London (tax free). Really cant see how u can lose money on this one though.

Not to mention the lucky minority who got hold of a M series 16710 before the price rise!!!
