My dear friend Mr Ivanloh. I ain't no PAM expert and there are many, many here who are. And this loophole (see below) was highlighted by nakashima, if you know what I mean..

But seriously I don't mind kopi o + durian (not "durain") puff from you. That'll be nice. Only scared this combi (kopi+durian) will make me lao-sai..

RIGHT! RIGHT !! I was half-thinking for the past few weeks if I should sell my PAM and now this has to happen . But your statement does put me at ease a little. YES!! I am a trustworthy, legitimate, honest, and upright seller (sometimes buyer too).

But i will not be surprised if the secondary market is affected by this move. Just hope prices will not dip too low.

Actually I was thinking why not increase the cost for verification as opposed to removing the service completely?

On the contrary, I think prices should go up, especially for pre-own pieces. And I do hope so..

Its already expensive for a simple job. Don't think they will see many pam vintage. Not like Rolex vintage. So easy money.

Charge higher will bring more resentment.

is there anywhere else where we can verify?

i was thinking too especially recently everywhere seems to change along the line from protecting customers' interest to profit earning.

example : HDB, private property, ERP, companies in singapore not hiring much singaporeans.. and now pam...

                            Just some thoughts.

Every 2nd hand PAM circulated is money that the company cant earn. Hence, if auth is abolished, less people dare to buy 2nd hand pams as scare will tio fake. most people would then prefer to buy gen and the money now goes back to them.
Agree as most new buyers will want to be "Assured" hence they'll start buying new from AD. Since buying used Pams became unverifiable, you still run a risk of a "Frankenrai" although it comes with papers agree? Say some unscrupulous seller accidentally chipped its glass and decides to sell it later, will he pay so much for the original parts? Or just a nip bit here and there and viola! Sell slightly below market price sure will move. By then will YOU be wise enough to know or not?

By not providing a simple yet reassuring service of verification, Richmont inevitably will kill off or lose in the long run. Second/Grey markets might hurt their profits true, but that's what keeps the brand collectable. Because used Panerais now has no way of being assured original/authentic, will you still buy used/imported? Sure you might buy brand new but in the first place will you even part with your money knowing you might have a issue selling it in the future?(Next owner also will think like you when they consider a used PAm)

Short run, Richmont makes more money from selling new. Long run, Richmont won't be selling much as ppl shun away preferring more "Wun" brands like a Rollie.(Afterall its still a "Roll Lac" and Tong Building can attest to it)

And without Grey models, there is only existing/local Pams they can earn from servicing. With that, they are limiting themselves from additional revenue. At least with every Grey/used Pam coming for a verification, they can also psycho the owner that this needs a little oiling, that wheel need to change and so forth...... when you spend so much already, a little bit more to feel at ease wont hurt, us or them........ Tio bo brudders?

May I add, Rolex can already start a department of its own ie: Rolex Verification Centre with the number of watches sent in for verification. More fakes, better for them. Its means more ppl would want to be assured that theirs aren't knock offs.......

And yes, one way to trick the system is to ask to see what needs to be serviced. Nice thinking Brudder Nakashima! You really thinking soldier..........Heee
