Any bro have experience if it is a good buy in germany and does the airport offer a good discount?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Go to Wempe

    http://www.wempe.de/bereich-deutschland.htm

You will find most of the high end watches there. Remember to claim back the 19% German VAT.

If you are Sinn lover, Frankfurt is the perfect place. Take a taxi to Sinn, grab few watches that you like. It should be cheaper than Singapore, especially after getting the VAT deducted.

Any ideal on what is Singapore's "realistic" sale price for IWC Big Pilot and the Mark XVI? (As a guage) I am intending to get both!!!

Any idea if it would be a wise choice to get it at frankfurt airport? (on the pricing)

BP list price is Euro 11K, grey market price 7.5-8K euro. If you could get that price and claim back VAT, it would be perfect. Mark XVI should aim <1.8k euro

According to Sinn price list that I have (valid from Sept1, 2008), Sinn 556 with leather band is Euro 490, rubber band Euro 530, with bracelet Euro 625. You can deduct 19% VAT from those mentioned prices

                      Many many thanks Hary san.

My friend was telling me that the VAT refund at the airport only allows a maximum of 12% VAT rebate. He just went and bought some LVs back and this was his experience. Wonder if this is true.

The grey market price that you have mentioned seems like a good buy. What is "grey market" shops and are there any risks of buying such an expensive watch like the BP? What should I look out for?

grey market refers to those who are selling watches in German watch forum. I dont know any non AD shops in Frankfurt selling BP.

With regard to VAT, I cannot remember when I did it last time. Probably 12% resulted from 19%-7% Singapore VAT. I assume the countries have cooperation, meaning u can escape paying VAT from the country of origin, but you have to pay VAT back in your home country.

then also depends on amount spent on single reciept. They got a range to refund you back. A rule of thumb is that the more you spend , the more refund you will get back, up to 12% max.
