as with thread title. here is my latest rolex acquisition. this watch is special because i have been looking for this particular model with warranty papers bearing my birth year since 2007. finally i gotten this piece just before CNY.

a pretty good condition 6694 with yellow/gold dial with yellow markers

the rolex engraving on the clasps



this logo is slightly faint. shows signs of being polished

the inner movement. considering the age of this watch which is about 30 years old, the movement is pretty clean and the the case has not shown sign of any rust 'eating' into the case

why my love affair with this piece, like some collectors, owning a watch bearing the same birth year is not that easy to find. it is warranty papers indicating my birth year.

with such immaculate condition of the watch, this one is definitely a safe queen for me.

Great find, congrats! apart from the fact that this piece has the papers showing your birth-year, is there any reason for getting this model? I am sure there are many others out there that have papers and are your birth-year too. Just curious to know

i am obsessed one can say. to me the 6694 is one of the rare manual winding vintage rolex has which has a workhorse movement. secondly, it is one of the models that is probably cheaper to own. there are many 6694 out there in the market. some with original dials, some with after market dials. to find those with original dials that are in good condition is getting tougher these days.

not only getting the watch with good condition dial and overall mint condition is even tougher as some of them are beyond 30 years old. besides i only get those with papers and box. this has proven to be a challenge over the years.

like one member pointed out in another thread - birth year watch said, it is a tad too small for the wrist these days.

If it is of any consolation to me, it is that I have a watch that is probably dated 1984, the year I started my first 'career'. But then again it has no papers. Yeah, it is awfully difficult to find good, working watches that are in the 70s, let alone earlier (I am not telling you my age, lol)...
