im hoping no one here licks the dial of their watch actually, it wasnt so much cancer causing for the end users, but more for the watchmakers, who would lick the paintbrush to "sharpen" their tip so that application was easier.
nowadays i believe they just pad print it on.Currently wearing:

tritium is not hazardous to human health, not especially in such minute quantities like those on a watch dial.
what is problematic, however, is the PROPER disposal of tritium when the dials are removed from within watches.
as such, it seems more cost effective to deploy luminova, superluminova, and that new blue stuff rolex concocted, as those dials can simply be thrown out with "regular" garbage.
we are exposed to radiation everyday, not just from tritium, but from the environment: rocks... space... etc.
people living near nuclear reactors are exposed to tritium too, but their overall radiation levels are actually less than those living near a coal/gas plant.
even if you licked the tritium dial, you won't be growing new limbs anytime soon, or have start having genetic errors/breakdowns!
radium, on the other hand... is a different game altogether!“Watches, no matter how much they cost, are better at telling time than making a person happy.†- Thomas J. Stanley

I am newbie and looking at buying a pre-owned Explorer II D-Series serial no for $5.4k (no case no registration). Is this a good deal or can I get better in another shop?
Appreciate all advice from you experts on the forum :-)
