one complete revolution (turn) of the crown should make the hour hand jump 8-9 times. older movement will jump around 6 times.

Any idea what is the difference between swiss made and T-25? I heard that The titanum light for T-25 has a life span?

The information you want is readily available in the forum. You only need to do a search. And btw, "T" in this case is not titanium, rather, it is tritium. I let you search for the rest of the information here.

yup, its the cancer causing properties that caused the ban on wrist watches.

but the same material is found in the exit signs (pre-ROHS) so which one is safer?

as long as you don't lick the exit signs or use it to stir your milo, you should be safe..

im hoping no one here licks the dial of their watch actually, it wasnt so much cancer causing for the end users, but more for the watchmakers, who would lick the paintbrush to "sharpen" their tip so that application was easier.

nowadays i believe they just pad print it on.

tritium is not hazardous to human health, not especially in such minute quantities like those on a watch dial.

what is problematic, however, is the PROPER disposal of tritium when the dials are removed from within watches.

as such, it seems more cost effective to deploy luminova, superluminova, and that new blue stuff rolex concocted, as those dials can simply be thrown out with "regular" garbage.

we are exposed to radiation everyday, not just from tritium, but from the environment: rocks... space... etc.

people living near nuclear reactors are exposed to tritium too, but their overall radiation levels are actually less than those living near a coal/gas plant.

even if you licked the tritium dial, you won't be growing new limbs anytime soon, or have start having genetic errors/breakdowns!

radium, on the other hand... is a different game altogether!
