  • GMT or the SUB

Hi everyone, need some advice here.

Looking at the both the GMT and the SUB... it seems to me, after reading the sales thread, that both pieces are about the same price, though the GMT might be priced slightly higher. Interesting thing i observed is that there are many people selling their SUBS, does this means that the supply of the SUB is higher than the GMTs? ANother thing i had observed is that sellers or the GMTs always say "RARE", but it seems that there are many sellers for the GMTs as well....

End of the day, which watch would you recommend since both cost around the same price?

    Thanks for the help.

I assumed you are mentioning the discontinued GMT... that's the reason why those sellers say "RARE" for GMT... many people are selling their SUBS are not because the supply is high but market is bad so people have to sell their watches to feed their family.

I assumed that you are looking at second hand watch now. If similar price, go for the GMT 1st since it has stopped production, SUB can get new one anytime...

the critical word is about - how much is about you referring to.

i dont know the supply of sub and GMT, so cannot comment

they are not limited in production, so how can it be rare?

cannot advise you anything because your questions you asked are vague.

if you tell us, are you comparing brand new and/or preown of sub and/or GMT. already here got 4 different combinations of comparison. so providing more information or more specific details, the members here can advise you better rather than trying to figure out what you trying to ask and provide you with wrong advice.

which one to buy? none, economy will get worse. better save the money.

I am looking at one GMT selling for $5.9k and a sub selling at S$5.4k, the price difference is about 10%, both of them are the same series. Conditon are also about the same, both comes with boxes and papers. Both are pre-owned. So not sure as to which one to get, hoping to find some advice here.

By the way, i am heading to Japan soon. Heard some people saying that the prices of Rolex there are cheaper. But prefer to deal here in Singapore rather as if the watch has any problems after i had bought it, might faced some problems.

Been using this forum for some time and i can say that i have learnt some new things here about watches. Really great stuffs...

I personally like the SUB more (my first rolex sport is a SUB) but GMT has discontinued (you can only find it in the pre-owned mkt)... so the answer is up to your heart!

Bro Louie, you are pretty right there... No point pursuing something blindly... Family comes first in every aspects...

When the economy is bad, i think it is a good time to buy some pre-owned luxury goods as the prices should be better, compared to those days when money is easy to come by... thats not pretty long ago, just 1 to 2 years back. Everything just changed in the nick of a second... Looking at the mkt to bottom soon...(Hopefully)...

come to think of it, rather sad with the economy so bad. Just happened to see a friend yesterday, who was doing pretty good some time back. But saw him doing valet at a hotel yesterday and it saddens me... this shows how bad things are these days. Count our blessings each ad everyday.... thats one lesson learnt here...
