  • Rolex Ladies Datejust 179173 dkmdj

Morning~~~~ i'm so in love with this watch. Its 26mm, dark MOP dial, diamond hour markers, fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet with gold and steel.

Been to quite a few preowned shops but doubt i can ever find it. Anyway, found a new piece at People Park Complex.

List price was $16,600. 10% discount was the offer but negotiable. What's the discount rate norm nowadays? Still 18%?

Also, cousin going Europe in May? Will prices be cheaper there? Switzerland? Forums also mentioned Hong Kong too. Hmmmm~~~~~

Appreciate your guidance and advice. Newbie in buying Rolex. Thanks.

Nowadays, it's hard to get discounts. For TT (Two Tone which means gold and steel), maybe you can still try to ask the Authorised Dealers. Typical is 10%, usually more is for TT or gold watches.

See whether you can negotiate more with the preowned shop. Usually their price is slightly cheaper. But if the difference is not much, consider AD instead. Getting a preowned watch has to be careful. Since you are new, I recommend you get it from AD instead. However, DateJust is an interesting model as there are many different models, with different dials, indices, bezel etc. The piece you want, may not even be available in AD sometimes. But since you are decisive on this model, let the AD knows, they should be able to get it for you if stock is available. If not, wait for the new shipment, usually a few weeks to a few months, depending how popular or rare the model is.

Getting a Rolex from overseas depending on the luck. Even if you go to countries like Hong Kong or even Europe, if the model is not available, you also can't buy. And overseas retailers are dishonest sometimes. They usually "reserve" those rare or popular models to regular customers or locals. So walkin customers usually don't get good models, let alone discounts. But if the exchange rate is very good, and if you are lucky to get the model you like, then grab it. You at least, save 7% GST. And sometimes overseas taxes like Europe, the VAT rebates are attractive. Do check out the local AD price then find the watch in overseas. If it's good, grab it. And btw, getting Rolex in Switzerland is definitely not a good deal. You may save, but not much. Consider other Europe countries, like Belgium, Holland, etc. Hong Kong is not bad too. But like I said, provided the watch is readily available, then talk about the prices.

I'm looking for this model too, except white MOP. AD quoted 10% off $16.6k but offered slightly higher disc if I m really interested.

Parellel importer offered $800 cheaper compared to the 10% off AD price. Considering that the difference is not great, AD maybe better option.
