I'm not too sure about your situation but I came across some (non ROLEX) watches that my friends have sent for servicing and the interior of their watch cases were "marked". I guess it is some form of identification for these independent watch service technicians.
Some outside technicians do use a marker to show the date of service.
I once witnessed a customer saying to the repairman ,his watch was just fixed a few months ago,
but when the case back was opened it showed a date two years ago.
I have sent my watches for servicing by a reputable watch technician and he will the watch with last servicing date with a erasable marker pens that can be wipe off this is to to indicate the last servicing done for the next person who needs to perform servicing to know..

Just out of curiousity...will the permanent marker ink corrode the inside of the watch case??
