  • Lost Rolex

hey guys... need some help here. my friend lost his rolex and we suspect that it has been stolen when he kept it in his bag during an outing. don't ask why... he was stupid to do that in the first place, i know.

he still has the authenticity card, box and all with him. if he makes a police report, is it possible to trace the watch? say if the thief sells it to some second-hand store or pawnshop. because i know that these stores will require the seller's ic. so in this case, if we make a police report, can we get it back still??

    thanks!

it is ideally to make a police report. im not sure what will RSC do should u go to them with the police report.

the watch may not be sold locally. however no harm making a police report as well.

made a police report. with the report, go to rolex. if the watch is sent to RSC, they will hold the watch and hand it to the police. however, this apply to singapore RSC and it is not international.

From my opinion, the chances of getting the watch back is very very slim...

Factors to consider as to whether if your friend can get his watch back based on the followings:

        1) Situation on how your friend's watch is "stolen". Is his/her bag left unattended? If that is the case, police might classify it as CMOP = Criminal Misappropriation of Property. Or is it because of negligent that the whole bag containing the watch is lost?? (And not stolen)

        2) Location of lost/Theft - If there are any available leads for the police to trace the culprit who took/stole the watch? Such as CCTV??

        3) And finally the serial number of the watch to allow the police to do tracing with pawnshops. But usually I believe the pawnshop will not state the serial number of the watch. Only the model number...

So end of the day, if the watch is taken from the bag (Bag still intact) and there are CCTV recordings around, can go lodge a police report. If it is lost due to own negligent, treat it as a lesson learnt and be more careful in the future...

Make a police report first and inform RSC thereafter. The rest is up to fate.

If I am not wrong, pawn shops and whatnot are supposed to keep records of what they purchased and sold + particular of seller and buyer. However, this practice has not been diligently practised though recently, because of the C**tina theft, the authorities have been checking more often on such operators to see if they have been complying...
as some have already posted, make a police report, update S'pore RSC and keep your fingers crossed...good luck!

a police report is the best option. all sellers of second-good are obliged to take down the ic and other relevant details of the one they buy the goods
from so that this info can be used by the police.

sad to hear, but the blame (frankly) is shared equally between those who left it unattended, and the crook who took advantage of the situation.

better start looking around. may even pay to visit a few pawnshops incase someone was stupid/desperate enough to get rid of it for a quick buck.
