I think you will be better off buying some stocks... When the economy recovers, the profit might buy you a Rolex.

depends on what u mean by investment. watches are not meant for investment in the first place. if u buy a watch today @ 2000 and 5 years later if the price of the watch becomes 3500. then it is considered as investment as well.

daytona used to be considered as a good 'investment' for most people. beginning of the year, the price of a white dial daytona @ local AD is commanding a price of 18K. however, the current price of a white dial daytona is going about 14k. so is it considered as good investment?

a watch is value for money if the price you pay is considered significantly lower than what most people paid for. take for example, if a watch offered by local AD has 30% discount off the list price, but the price you pay for is like 40-50% off list, this is what i call value for money. this is because the savings is significantly higher than most people who have paid for.

100% agree. watch has never been a very good investment vehicle. just enjoy the it n maybe you could break even in 5-8 years. that's my experience....

Thanks for sharing this info wean_sg.

This is a first time I see a Day-Month-Date Chronograph from Rolex! It's everything that I want in a watch. Is Rolex still selling this model?

It's a pity that a Daytona is a Chronograph-only timepiece and no date, not to mention Day-Month.

Buy the watch bcos u like / love it.. if the price aprreciate in the future then it's a bonus for you....

Illustration: a watch like a gal.... u choose the gal that u love....
then u marry her ... just to found out later that her parents r rich & u r the next successor...

I think you have to re-phase your question...

Buy low now and after 40-50 years, will be able to sell at a premium?

These were made only in the 50s. Now can only buy in international auctions. Price = 1 hdb flat.
