  • Need help on where to get my 1st Rolex...

    Hi guys,

I am new here... Going to buy myself my 1st Rolex... Considering btw explorer II, submariner and GMT II...

Just went to AD to ask price for expr II, the quote me 10,360 and was told no discount for sports model (izt true?)...

Anyway any recommendations to where I can get my 1st Rolex ?
I will also be getting a date just with mop facing for my wife...
Looking for shops with good service and discount?

    Thanks in advance...

Most ROLEX sports watch models do not come with discount. Few may even be selling above list price. As for where you can get your first ROLEX watches from a local AD, I was wondering how to respond to this question

Most ADs I've come across provide good service. Discount wise, it is rather standard unless you are a "VIP customer". Better for you to do some leg work and find out yourself. A service/discount that is good enough for me may not be so for another. If you are still lazy, let your 'fingers do the walking' - use the search function and discover those ADs whom were often praised by the members in the forum.

    Enjoy the horological journey

Oceanklassik pretty much sums it up for you, ts.

Frankly, if you are not a VIP or have a good relationship with an ad or it's sales person, you are unlikely to get discount on moat of the sports models ESP the x2 which was retailing at a premium until recently. $10360 is te rrp for the x2.

Unless one of the vip's or someone with good contacts is willing to let you piggyback on their discount, you are at the mercy of the ad.

I would also suggest you go shopping around to get the eat possible deal yourself. Important thing is if you think it's a fair price to you just get it.

Alternatively you can get t from overseas which is cheaper, especially in europe. But I you prefer to get it locally them proceed. Could be your opportunity to build relationship with a local ad.

The fun isbin the hunt. Enjoy.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

Total agree .. need to do some homework by walking (is the best). Can visually see and feel the watch and hopefully get a good price. Else there is always a sales garage here as an option. Enjoy.

Get from here if you don't mind the oversea AD and verification at ROC. The price here is quite good compare to what you can get from AD.

Yes better to do sine footwork and walk into ad to look, see and negotiate price. More effective than doing through phone.

I bought 2 watches in europe recently.
Ladies Datejust 31mm 178274, W/G bezel and diamond dials (Dated 1st Mar 2012) for my wife, but she prefers a different model if possible.
And an Explorer 2, ref 16570 (Dated 29th Feb 2012, an out of production model, which fits nicely on smaller wrist, rather then the new model which is bulkier) for my son, who also would prefer to have the Milgauss with green glass.
Buying gifts for surprise is not much of a surprise though, at least for me.
Will put the watches up for sale, if I can fulfill their wishes.

For best price, search around the garage section, there are many dealers selling brand new rolex pieces at a much better price than the shops. Good luck in your search!
