RSC won't service my vintage

Jus went down to TONG building recently , wanting to get my 5512 serviced.As its fitted with a superdome crystal, I told the reception lady that the crystal CANNOT be replaced, only polished.As I am afraid the newer replacement crystals are not superdomes.

After their inspection, they say that the crystal MUST be changed as there are some minor cracks.They will not budge on this issue.As a result , its a wasted trip to RSC. I'll have to send it to a independent ROLEX trained watch specialist to have it serviced.

This is just some of the pitfalls of vintage rolex ownership.Just to share with everyone my experience.

wow , ur service fees see liao kia lang sia , 700+ , i wonder if i buy liao the sub no date one then bring in service dunno how much sia

anyway service charges for current models are in the S$400 range.....

Only vintage ones then service more expensive coz they hav to b careful and not much spare parts if too old...

Yes.Generally its more expensive to overhaul vintage models.

Sigh...high maintainence for them..for me I prefer contemporary models coz maintanence would not be that expensive. Well..for my 16014 is diff case coz hav sentimental value..

how often do we need to service our rolex? every 3years? or 5 years?

approx 5-7 years ....

there are also owners who dun believe in servicing............

but if dont service how? when the one day the watch one day stop working means is not service , become repair liao i think
