Today I suppose to close a deal on a Daytona TT at SRC with a fellow Bro. Black dial is with 3 little gold dials, very very attractive.
I was informed by SRC Staff that the watch is genuine but not original. Why? the problem is the dial, which is mand for YG series and not TT series, therefore, SRC will not service the watch unless a original TT's dial is reinstall. Pre-owned shop may have the knowledge of this condition. However, they may not disclose it to the buyer.
Our Bro pick it up from a local pre-owned shop, he wanted to free it up for a WG Daytona. I suggested him to sell it back to the shop as it will be a problem for other Bros to take over.
Last but not least, a $75 lesson is important for me is that when buying Rolex in future, it must be Genuine and most importantly Original.

Thanks for sharing! I thought this "frankenwatch" phenomenon is more prevalent with the DJ... Didn't know it afflicts Daytonas as well. I suppose this problem may be more common in US as there are a lot more watch makers there who are willing to swap dials, bezels, etc for customers.
Anyway, good lesson learnt!
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...

I personally prefer the watch as it is. The original state, rather than change new dial, or add in diamonds to make it look more 'expensive'.
sometime i see those 'zhng' one, the diamond bezel workmanship looks rather lousy...one look and u know its 'modify' one. haha

In Japan, modification is even worst, they have a lot of designer dials, very attractive and pricy. However, I have no knowledge of whether Japan Rolex Centre will accept this? if not they have to get their watch maintain or repair by other watch repair man. For SRC, they are very "Geow"...

Hmm...that sounds very familiar....change the daytona dial from the YG 1 to the TT 1. *scratch head* now to remember who it is.
Well 1 thing I can tell the seller is...you still can sell it on SG-ROC. PROVIDED you add details that your watch cannot be serviced at RSC but can still be serviced outside.

That provide our Bros know their watch's condition and history, they too may be a vitim of circumstances. On serious note, I don't blame the bro for all the troubles, I took it positively for learning something and met one more Rolex lovers. .
