  • M series explorer II = 3186 movement ?

Just joined here and wondering if anyone can provide an affirmative answer to the above.

I've read quite a number of posts here and it seems that not all explorer II M series comes with the new 3186 movement.

However i've been told in no uncertain terms that all M series explorer II will come with it !

No need rolex trader also can tell you that NOT ALL M series have 3186 movement... on the other hand, if you are not a rolex trader, you have to open up the casing in order to check whether a M series is fitted with what kind of movement

most likely not, since it is considered an "enquiry". Alternatively you can go to RSC on a service pretext, sure enough they will have to open up, can request to see the watch before being closed again.

as others have mentioned, its true that not all explorer 2 comes with the 3186 movements.

I think that by serial numbers or performing the "wiggle test", one can deduced if a M series explorer 2 possibly has the 3186 movement (I do not have the details but u may wanna do a search on the various Rolex forums for more info on them). Whether the person is a dealer with good references or not, unless he is trained in discerning the movement visually by removing the case back itself, he at best can only rely on the serial numbers or the "wiggle test" to come to a conclusion that the explorer 2 he has for sales has the 3186 movement. ultimately, RSC is the best authority to state for sure if the explorer 2 has the 3186 movement if u are intending to buy a M series one.

BTW, if u are in the market for one, there is no overwhelming consensus to suggest that only the M series Explorer 2 will have the 3186 movements. So since the Explorer 2 is not going to be discontinued anytime soon, I'm guessing future series of this model will all incorporate the 3186 movements. U may wanna consider this b4 u take the plunge since some are selling at a premium at the moment. my 2 cents worth

Yes, not all M series may carry the 3186. The serial numbers of Rolex watches are not necessarily produced in sequence.

so is the wiggle test conclusive ? last certification they will only "say" if genuine or not. won't put anything in writing.

I'm just curious if the ADs knw about this "3186" movement and are they selling their "3186" movement ROLEXes at a higher price? This is because I keep seeing people trying to sell their watches at a higher price, as they capitalise on this movement.
