I got the 14060M : ) I heard that its going to be discontinued. But Rolex is still putting it into the website with their ceramic models. So I not sure whether the model will be a good piece for holding its value.

That's good. Remember to post some pics of it in our gallery. It is likely to discontinue next year along with the current explorer 2. Where did you bought the watch?

              Buying my first Rolex...

              Hello everyone!

I read many posts for the last few days and it is a bit daunting to write my first one. Anyway, well... Here I am! I don't own a Rolex yet... But thinking hard to pull the trigger soon.

I am visiting Singapore again this year and thought of taking the opportunity to buy my first Rolex. I always liked the submariner (date and no-date) and felt that if I had to get a Rolex one day it would be one of these or the beautiful Explorer II.

Since the new Sub C is already on the market and replaces the 16610, there is a high possibility that the "classic" submariner 14060M disapears soon. This pushes me to look for my first Rolex acquisition. Good excuse, huh :P

I believe that the 14060M is still available at ADs in Singapore and would be very happy and grateful if anyone of the community could provide some advice.

Is there a prefered AD for Rolex amongst the community? What kind of realistic discount can I obtain on a 14060M? I saw the current price being SGD 7,664.00 - Is it the current price at the ADs after the September increase?

              Thank you for your support.

Not sure where you are coming from. Singapore ADs do not give much discount, unless you know someone of course. You might want to check at "home" first before coming over here to buy. Just my humble view!

discount also dpds on which model and material. Disc on SS models usually not as much and for Submariner, disc not much if you can even obtain any, if you are not a regular with a typical local AD.

Thank you for your replies, guys.

I will come to Singapore on a business trip. I checked Rolex prices at home and it is relatively not bad. But as soon as I add the 15% sales tax the price is not that great. Moreover, they did not have the submariner in stock. The Sub C is coming soon as the sales person told me... So, they do not plan to have the "classic" 14060M anymore.

I bought a Breitling last year at THG in Singapore and was hoping to go there to check the price of a Submariner 14060M and the discount. I am not a "regular" customer as such and was wondering how much discount I can expect on a 14060M.

                    Cheers!

As mentioned by the many seniors, it depends on who and how you approach. The more popular places to buy ROLEX watches in Singapore are The Hour Glass and Watch Palace. There's also one "THH" in People's Park Complex, Chinatown. Regular customers may get between 5% and 10% discount, depends. Others, maybe no discount. Then there's also the various modes of payment - credit card or cash, that determines how much more discount you may/not get. Naturally, cash payment will yield higher discount.

                      Happy shopping !

Thank you Oceanklassik for your reply.

I guess that I should go to THG because I purchased at this AD before. Carrying large amount of cash is quite difficult when you are a foreigner. I shall try to pay some cash and the balance by credit card. It appears from all responses that I might not got any discount on a Rolex whereas it is possible to get a discount for other brands. Am I correct?

                        Thanks for your help!

Not really. Only selective few models do not have discount (mainly the stainless steel (ss), sports models). Most others have. Other brands have their own discount structures, so it's hard to say. I know Tag Heuer gave about 20% to 25% discount for most of their models, about 8% to 12% for Omega, 0% to 15% for Panerai, etc.

I believe that the price you stated $7664 for 14060M is before the price increment.

But I am not too sure when the price increment will set in.

Walk around town area, don't be surprised that they might just give you good discounts if you are willing to pay by cash

Thank you guys for your kind advice. I should be visiting in about 2/3 weeks and will see how it goes with regards to price.

I am wondering whether the price in the USA or in HK is more competitive. But, in my mind Singapore was always the place to get a Rolex...

                              Hmm.. decisions, decisions...

Thank you again for your comments. I realise that Rolex is not a brand for which it is easy to obtain discounts in Singapore.

Does anyone know whether I would have better option in HK or in Malaysia?
