I have bought Rolexes in Swiss only to realise they can be had for $500 cheaper in Hour Glass Singapore.
The problem with Europe is that they are extremely strict with discount and they have hordes of tourist. 3% discount for CC and 5% for cash. Nothing more. If you ask for more, they will tell you thank you very much but they have a line of PRC tourist who are willing to pay at retail price anytime. Europe is only cheap if Euro or Swiss francs are weak against SGD.
The best prices for Rolexes is HK and Dubai. Don't bother to look elsewhere. HK has a good price because they are the biggest market for Rolex in Asia. Where on earth can you find 70++ AD cramped into an island except HK? As for Dubai, they are tax free and they are very willing negotiators as long you show the interest to buy. Competition is very stiff in Dubai with Mega Malls everywhere so there is always room to discuss.
So the next time people say Europe is cheap for watches, please don't believe in that. It is however true for luxury handbags, but that's another story.

My experience in Dubai was that that Rolex is not cheap and after conversion its more or less the same as in SG. Insignificant price difference. But I did not attempt to negotiate with them because I assumed they have throngs of PRCs and other tourists from nearby oil rich states that will be more than happy to pay full retail price for them.

Generally the above are all correct. Buying watches in Switzerland or abroad is more of buying "momentos". The only exception is for new models which are selling at premium prices in Singapore. Even if you are willing to pay for them, they might not have stocks on hand but you can find a couple of them in Switzerland. You gotta calculate yr exchange rate and compare which is cheaper. So far my experience is that their retail prices are a little cheaper especially in Switzerland. However if you pay via credit card, the charges might cause you to end up paying more, not forgetting that price control is stricter there and you can get better discounts in Singapore if you have good relationship with the AD. As mentioned the only exception is for new models since you will have tax refund overseas. For Switzerland, one advantage is that you pay the net amount after deducting tax, unlike other countries where you have to pay full amount before tax, which later the tax amount will be refunded to yr credit card, which will cause you to incur charges 2 times and increase your net purchase price. It must be noted however that other Europe countries have higher tax rebate than Switzerland. So end up for the purchase price might be almost the same.
Whichever the case, gotta do a bit of homework before going overseas. Personally I like buying watches overseas as I buy them as momentos for my trips. As long as I am paying a reasonable price I will be happy. I bought my Batman last Oct at Switzerland and after conversion is about $10,900 without taking my credit card rebates into consideration. Although many might have bought it at a lower price than me, I feel it's ok because the retail price in Singapore is $11,670 and to enjoy about 5% discount for a sports model is reasonable for me.
I guess Rolex wants their prices to be controlled and standard regardless of countries, however Asian countries "spoil market" because I believe they are more hungry for business.

Not cheaper because u are NOT looking at the right places. Dont bother with Switzerland unless u simply love to spend more for a Rolex. It is possible to get better priced Rolex watches in Amsterdam as compared to Singapore. I've bought one in 2012: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/eu...p-3908727.html. If u must have the absolute best deal, visit Italy.. Milan in particular. Their VAT is now at 22%. Once u become a regular there, u can even get most of the VAT back!

There are many reasons why some grey dealers here in Singapore Rolex Club are selling it cheaper than Europe AD. Do u know the history of the watches at the grey dealers? When was the warranty registered? Are u 100% positive that the watches were not pre-owned?

Its also possible that some grey dealers bought the off-loaded watches from some ADs in 'bulk'... at prices which u will never be offered for small quantity purchases.
As the saying goes.. if its too good to be true... it usually is. Caveat emptor.

Certain models are slightly cheaper as compare to Sg simply be coz those models are not popular there but vice versa back home.
With some disc + vat rebate + conversion rate....it will be cheaper.
Having said, it only apply to certain models.
Do yr homework though
