i was at the RSC today because i wanted to change a screw on the bracelet. They were quite friendly and in the end, they changed 3 screws as there were slight damages to the screwheads from resizing. The best part was that it was FOC and they gave me a watch case with the polish cloth later on as well.

Advice needed -- Dealer says RSC will insists all glass not original during service

appear to me the dealer is challenging the integrity of rolex center, trying to defend that what he sold was 100% original parts
ask this dealer put down his claims in black and white, show it to rolex center; chances are, rolex center will throw the claims out of the window and refuse to service the watch
on that note, does anyone here seriously believe rolex center need to go to the extent of falsification to sell a crystal?

need some advice here.
Bought a watch from a local dealer, he does servicing too. Watched stopped so brought in to rolex service center. RSC informed that the glass is not original and needs to be changed. watch requires servicing and oil (which is the reason the watch moved and stopped).
Surprised to hear that the glass is not original. Brought watch back to dealer. He claimed that this is RSC's practice and mode of business. bring any watch to RSC and RSC will claim that the glass is not original. That is how they 'earn' money.
Any advice from Rolex owners here please? The dealer also offered to service the watch and get it working FOC...Last edited by skydweller_sg; 10-04-13, 05:50 PM.

Some quetions for glass: How does RSC verify glass originality (refering to the older models which do not have crown laser etch)? Does it come with part number like the bracelet? Aftermarket glass magnifying same with original (2.5x)?
Thanks!

No 'glass is not original' response even though other than 1 time, they have always suggested that I get the watch serviced.

It happen to me once, i wanted to see how good RSC can identify non-authentic crystal when i intially send in a vintage watch to buy bracelet with an obvious 3rd party crystal without telling them i wanted to change the crystal as well. But they didn't sound out or write on the green job card that the crystal was not authentic until i told them.
But i overheard the conversation between the desk amd tech, the tech say he though i'm just buying the bracelet, so never bother to ask me to change since the non-authentic crystal is still new...Current:

Happened to me too when i bought my tt sub from a private dealer back in 2012... Sent my watch for verification at rsc then they gave me a call saying that the watch is authentic but the crystal is not... Informed the seller and he agreed to pay for the new crystal with rolex crown logo etching which costs about $100 plus i think since he assured me that the watch is 100% original... But rsc said i also needed to replace a security ring... Don't know what that was but i paid for it and also changed a new bezel insert since the old one was abit faded... The seller did what was right but i felt bad to make him pay for everything so i paid for the security ring...HOME THEATERPHILE

I brought in an early 80s date-just for overhaul. The staff recommended that I changed the crystal as it was scratched and yellowed. In their defence, they were not pushy.
Personally I see no reason why the staff should say that a part is not original when it is. There are tons of other technical excuses RSC can throw at us to make us change parts.

Hmm... I am not to sure if it is a RSC business practice or mode or business. But IMHO, I don't think RSC will be so unprofessional about telling you that the original part is unoriginal. The most they will do is tell you that your watch needs to get serviced, that is good business enough for them.
To add on, it sounds like the dealer is abit guilty, that's why he offered to service your watch for free. He may not want to complicate the issues even further. Oh well... If it's me I would ask for a full refund and get another same watch from somewhere else!
