7" wrist should take a 47mm watch without any problems. however you have to get used to wearing a bigger watch, be careful of where you swing your hands etc.

          Hi,

I'm new to Pam. Went to check out Pam with wife yesterday (she never knew wat's Pam till yesterday) haha. She quite like it so I'm thinking of killing 2 birds with 1 stone (buy a Pam for her and I can also occasionally wear it).

I can't tell the difference between 372 and 390 if it's not placed side by side man.

Actually is there a basic introduction of Pam watches to newbies? I saw some wrote 'Panerai', some 'Luminor Panerai' some 'Luminor Marina' etc on the dial. Do you grade and categorize the watches in terms of price based on those words?

I read from above 372 is a good watch for starter. Any other Pam also good for Pam starter. Probably will buy only 1 Pam instead of multiple versions.

          Thanks

            wow..........how to start?

for starters, you will need to know there are 2 basic case designs, a Radiomir case and a Luminor case. the Radiomir case comes with wire loops for the strap while the Luminor case have lugs for mounting the strap. Luminor case comes in the standard Luminor or Luminor 1950 case (a more beefy version). seen below i hope you can differentiate the 3 cases (Radiomir, Luminor, Luminor 1950).

which type of movement you want in your Panerai watch? manual winding or automatic? there is the OP calibre based on ETA movement and there is the in-house movement.

try to pick up a Panerai catalog from the boutique at ION or download it from the Panerai website. there is plenty of infomation to digest.

in the case of the PAM 372, you can see it is bigger (47mm) as compared to the PAM 390 (44mm).

then there is the sandwich or painted dial. just saw both 390 & 372. tobacco dials r of different shades. 390 dial is ligher colored painted but 372 has the sandwich dial which I like. 372 manual winding is smooth as butter with the P3000 movement. Though larger, it sits on my 7" wrist flatly. Will be nice with a seasoned Swiss Ammo strap. Large dial needs getting used to. still undecided whether its the watch for me. doesn't talk to me on first encounter.

372 is nicer if wrist fits.

Movement nicer, dial nicer, hands nicer, case nicer, crown guard nicer.

Not the crystal for me. Prefer they domed it with sapphire.

it's good that you try out the 372. 47mm size watch is not for everyone. personally i still prefer my 243 which fits nicely on my wrist.

                    Hi eastsider,

372 may not be a watch that you can share with you and your wife.

whch to buy pam 390 or 372

pam 372 is great looking !Like the traditional dna look of the 372 But not for people with small wrist.....but dun like the doom plastic crystal prefer flat scratch proof sapphire crystal, dun like new movement as not proven
47mm also means it is a scratch magnet.......

so pam 390 seem to be a better choice & can share with wife too ! simple movement, nice painted aged dial & nice size

Wow sudden support for 390. Perhaps we should do a poll, 372 vs 390
