BAD guys do have it all, as Swatch proves in its latest collection that pays tribute to the legendary villians in James Bond movies. The Trendy Swiss plastic watch brand's newest range is another step in its innovative approach to watch making as it celebrates 25 years of plastic watches.
Swatch itself describes the new 22-watch collection as "provocative and insidiously subversive".
The collection features myriad choices from plastic chronos and Soviet-era inspired creations to slim ladylike bands. For instance, Irony the Chrono is a gold-coated stainless steel timepiece featuring a diamond-patterned dial and inspired by Oddjob from Goldfinger.
Iron Lady sports knuckle-duster details, a tribute to Rosa Klebb's weapon of choice in From Russia With Love.
And, in homage to poker-faced Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, Irony Big features a dark grey Ace of Spades on its face and a delicte motif engraved on its stainless steel bezel.
Spoilt for choice? Why not get all the watches in the exclusive James Bond Villian Limited Collection Box set. Only 222 numbers sets - which cost $5,422 each - exist, but just four are available in Singapore.
Along with the timepieces, each set contains a James Bond encyclopaedia and pictures from the various movies. The collection also includes the Swatch Chrono Plastic - a black and ivory piece that brings to mind the newest Bond baddy, Dominic Green, from Quantum of Solace. The movie opens in Singapore on Nov 6.
Swatch will be holding a local road show from Oct 17 to 19 at The Heeren shops to promote the "villains".
"We've discovered the dark side of the myth. And we love it," said founder of the Swatch Group, NG Hayek. "It's absolutely fascinating."
The Swatch 007 Villain Collection is priced from $89 to $359 and is available at all Swatch stores.
