  • Where to stay in London?

    Hi Everyone,
Will be going to London for a week in April 2013.
This is a free n easy trip.
May I know which are the recommended hotels with budget of $150-$200?
    The requirements are
    !)relatively safe area
    2)transport (tube/bus service)near to stations
    Thank You

service apartments are cheaper but London accommodation is still very expensive overall. I stayed at a far east organiation service apartment at gloucester. nice but might be a bit out of budget for you still. but there are some cheaper ones. maybe you can google? just avoid those without lifts. cheers.

you'll be there just a week right? It really depends on whether you foresee a lot of travelling on public transport. I usually travelled to one place and walked a lot before I headed back to the apartment. SO in my case, not necessary to get the tube pass. Try to plan your itinerary so that you could possibly move between 2 venues easily? and if you are out at night, a taxi might be safer.

if you want to consider a tube pass, you need the oyster card, go see this http://www.visitlondon.com/traveller...-london/oyster

The oyster card is a top-up card of sorts. You can load value into it, and also load those one-day travel passes onto it.

Off-Peak One-day Travelcard – valid from 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day (12.01am to 4.30am the following day) at weekends and public holidays:

        Zones 1 and 2 – adult £7.30
        Zones 1–4 – adult £8
        Zones 1–6 – adult £8.90
        Zones 1–9 – adult £12.10

Anytime One-day Travelcard – valid for travel until 4.30am the following morning:

        Zones 1 and 2 – adult £8.80 (Oyster pay-as-you-go price cap: £8.40)
        Zones 1–4 – adult £11 (Oyster PAYG cap: £10.60)
        Zones 1–6 – adult £16.40 (Oyster PAYG cap: £15.80)
        Zones 1–9 – adult £20.40 (Oyster PAYG cap: £19.60)

I didn't get those. I always just bought the single trip ticket at the station.

Is there any airport transfer(airport to hotel and back)?
Or is it better to take Taxi/metro to hotel?
              All replies much appreciated!
