just a side track. also be wary with taxi drivers.
had very bad encounters in Macau. Lost my hp as well as one of them shortchanged me. And they like to give you macau dollars as change for your HK dollars. Once you leave Macau, those Macau dollars are practically useless.I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch.........

HK money changers all the spread very bad for Sing$. Will do better to bring US$ there to change HK$. Else, credit card not too bad.
Best way is to change in Sing. At one time, I changed locally for 5.50. Go HK see its 4.90 and sell is 5.90. Used Credit card and it was 5.40. The difference in scary if you are thinking of buying a HK$100K watch there.
And this kind of rates is the norm there.

I go to the money changer at funan level 1, checked the rate on for a particular day was 6.25 and the rate at the changer was 6.2. So was pretty good in my opinion. Just take note not to accept any HK 1000 notes. Almost all shops in Hong Kong do not accept this denomination anymore, there has been counterfeit versions circulating since end of last year.
