Most important of all, you pay for the current market price rather than to wait till save enough and then see the prices run away with their yearly increment. I suupport this as every 2 years got new watches...

Did you know? Manhatten Card gives you 5% cash rebate if you spend more than 3K but under 6K? So if you are spending 6k on a watch using interest free installment... you will be effectively giving up $300 of rebates. No.. I am not related to them whatsoever.
Depends if you think this is worth it or not. Some people do value stretching the dollar as far as possible. But with interest rates being so low these days, if got money to pay... I rather earn the rebates.

there is nothing wrong with using cards to pay for watches. in oz, many things i buy on credit (mom's card) when i could have easily paid for in cash. why? because i get points; extended warranty; lowest price guarantee (if i buy a computer @ $3k, and i see it one week later @ $2.8k; the bank will take $200 and credit the account - of course this isnt the bank being a charity; but because we have other services with them). also some shops seem not to recognise the age old rule "cash is king". end of the day; do your own calculations and be careful.Currently wearing:

What do you mean by tie down? You can still cancel a credit card even if you have outstanding debt. The bank will continue to send you the bill every month. His

i wrote in a wrong manner . gah! what i meant to write was; buying on credit can sometimes work out better than paying cash; but for the consumers to make their own calculations and work out what is best for them.Currently wearing:

Pay cash... get nothing, but hope got discount.
Pay credit card with installment plan... get nothing, credit tied up, but drag payment period and stretch your dollar.
Pay credit card in full (ie full payment when CC bill is due) .... earn rebates or rewards according to the card you use.

Guys,
Here's one from maybank so if you want something from hour glass and do have the credit card, not a bad deal because you can put the watch on a instalment plan and still get the rebate. Max $360 per watch so break it into 2 instalment plan if you have to, just talk to the sales guy nicely and see if it can be done.
Promotion period from 7 to 18 Nov. Rebate is capped at $360 per watch. Rebate amt wil be credited into account within two months from date of transaction. Valid for one-time payment and 6,12 and 24 months 0% instalment payment plan.
