Then I will say your term of 'rich' is inappropriate/incorrect. It doesn't matter if it is your savings or monthly pay that you are using to buy watches. The point is, it is your money that you are using to buy watches, right? And mind you, it is "to buy WATCHES", not to buy rice, medicine, etc (basic necessities). Then again, it also depends who/how you are comparing with. If you are comparing your wealth with a tycoon/millionaire/billionaire, then you are not wrong.. . But generally, you are still considered rich..

Just like how I often see people titling their threads as "humble collection", "humble watches", etc-etc. And when you open those threads and see the watch collection they have, that they termed "humble", you will drop from your chair !

      Finer Things in Life

People here in Singapore are in general more interested in watches and wearing them. This is a good sign. If you look at the top 10 swiss watch world import market, Singapore is in the Top 10 and HK is No. 1! That is why when you go to HK, you see watch shops all over. Panerai for example has 2 boutiques there with 1 just opened at Canton Road. Even the customs officer at the airport are wearing Rolex Submariners. When you go to the Central area during lunch time, it is watches galore! On the contrary in Australia for example, watches like Tissot, Citizen, Longines and Tags are considered as value for money. A rolex watch is considered very luxurious. Really different culture.

I don't think it is just about getting affluent. Singapore has been affluent for a number of years. It is a greater sense of appreciation for the finer things in life in the form of horology. I look forward to a more vibrant luxury watch culture in Singapore!
      His: AP ROO, Hublot BB, PAM 24/29/183/372, Chopard L.U.C 2000/Mille Miglia, Rolex Milgauss 116400 GV/Sub 16610 LV/1680 "Red Sub"/GMT Master 1675/GMT Master II 16760 "FAT LADY"/Seadweller 16600/DSSD 116660, Tudor 94010 "Snowflake"/94200 "BIG Block"/Heritage Chrono/Black Bay, Omega Seamaster 2254.50/2538.20

... Saw 2 interesting new watches today (both on friends' wrists) ...

          (a) A few days old Blancpain FF (Awesome watch! Love the sapphire bezel!); and
          (b) A new Rolex green Sub-Date (with the green dial and ceramic bezel ... certainly looks good with the thicker lugs and improved clasp)

The most ridiculous combination I ever saw was a friend's friend wearing a Daytona white gold with the most faded & crumbled shirt & berms! When I asked him about his watch, he told me it's his daily wear & he doesnt care if a rock hits it. BTW, he wears that Daytona on business trip to Vietnam & Cambodia!

                          Lots of ...

...rollies and pams, and AP ROOs too, but the "highest" end I've seen is a PP5140 (or at least it looked like one) just a couple of days back.

Was in 313e this afternoon and saw a group people wearing niccce watches.

2 guys each wearing rolex and a big uboat watch in black dial, like phantom looks...
2 ladies wearing an oversized watch and not sure bout the model, but it just way too big for them haha...
