  • Safe Queens...Or...?

Really really enjoy wearing your Rolex the way it was made?...a tool watch...

I though I would share this as I find it interesting...

Bump onto this thread regarding Rolex Daytona...the owner wore the watch in every possible way...everyday...everywhere...everything...for 7 years...

I don't think he beat the hell out of the daytona but just enjoyed wearing it as what it was made for...a tool (wrist watch).

(tried to attached some of his pics but its too damn big...4000x3000)

Here's the link to the amazing story...

Anyone of us actually wear our Rolexes as intended? Or are they merely safe queens...?

    Cheers.

i never get tired of looking at that dirty watch (first saw it on TRF).

my brother's sub date looks similar. despite going through everything in his life, it's never washed, for some reason...

None of my watches are safe queens, the minute I find any of them becoming an expensive paperweight, it's up for sale .
Having said so, I will not allow any of my other watches, whether a rolex or otherwise, to get into that condition.

This "poor" Daytona had served the master well.

        Fully utilized.

        With memories.

If had paid the price for it, just enjoy it.

That daytona is really a well USED tool watch... this shows that a watch is used as it's intended too.. but i'd never do that to my watch for sure... imagine what would a watch have gone through to look like that and if the guy were to wear a pp, then what would that watch look like in 7 years on that guy's wrist...

                  Bracelet (solid links) heavily stretched...

There's always the debate between hollow and solid links where the common believe was that the latter does not stretch easily...

Shows that doesn't matter if its hollow or solid links, as long as the bracelet is not taken care of, periodically cleaning it, it will stretch due to the dirt and grime collected inside and rubbing the metal...

To the owner, its just a watch.....to us, what the hell did you do with it...?!
