Many thanks to all who have contributed so much information about the 16610LV. Suffice to say, collectors value certain attributes over others, and as a result some variants become more sought after than others in the eyes of collectors.
Perhaps because watches are basically mass produced items that are homogeneously produced, and so any variance from the norm can be hyped up into a collectible by collectors. But on the wrist, the green bezel on black maxi-dial on SS oyster bracelet is what people can see. Who other than oneself, who can see whether it is flat 4 or not? F series or V series? Chapter ring or not?
From here, it is pretty obvious I am no collector of watches. I bought the 16610LV only because I compared it side by side with the 116610LV, and I preferred the black dial over the green and the older case shape. It was simple as that.
I started this showcase thread to share by joy in wearing this iconic sub. It was not about which LV variant is worth more than the other, or how much resale can one get for a certain variant. If anyone wants to know what people would pay for yr watch, go start a sale thread and the Mkt will tell you.
