  • First Rollie for the New Year

Just to share my joy on this classic, just purchased to start the New Year.

Was doubtful if the size was too large but it fit nicely. This classic might just have the largest dial in the sports series, maybe the DSSD might be slightly larger.

Anyhow hope to keep it for long.

After wearing it for close to a week, it seems to outshine my SD, SS daytona and all my DJ.

I do find that this could be best sports/tool watch that Rolex came out with till now for the modern era. Some might think otherwise but I am not forcing it down anyone's throat, just my thoughts.

                  Pro
                  1) Clean, clear dial with a nice backdrop of matt black.
                  2) Modern size of 39mm that looks much larger then that.
                  3) Better design bracelet with solid center link, easylink, double lock and best - brushed finished.
                  4) Does not look odd with the 20mm bracelet - taper to 15mm at clasp. Nice length for the clasp.
                  5) Versatile for formal and sports use.
                  6) Great heritage.

                  Cons
                  1) No date (But having a date would take away the heritage of the Explorer).
                  2) Pricey

The new Explorer 1 is certainly a keeper, trying one at the AD will not do justice to it as all the stickers take away all its shines.

Thanks for the valuable review. This is useful for potential (new) Explorer I buyer(s). With price being the main consideration at this point, if it gets soften, I believe more will want to own one.

I always feel the old 36mm is the better option but you have convined me to take a look at the 39mm if I ever decided to get a Explorer 1
