Really happy to be able to share my grail watch and achievement with everyone. My very own SubC Date:
Ever since I became smitten with automatic watches and then automatic dive watches almost 2.5 years ago, the Sub has been my dream watch because of its history, purposeful image, and versatility. Starting from a rudimentary but charming Seiko SKX009, I could never imagine myself plonking down 10 grand on a watch, but alas the draw of the Rolex could not be ignored.
I told myself I must own one, eventually..and I would purchase one to commemorate a life milestone. There was no milestone, but an economic event that pushed me to pull the trigger. The value of the Franc soared, and I went 'Why not?', and made the purchase.
Hardly romantic, but I had achieved my grail. Each time I run my fingers over the watch edges, lock the beautiful clasp, turn the bezel, and admire the smooth sweeping of the seconds hand, I understand where my money went. And every time I look at my wrist, I feel a deep sense of satisfaction and that is priceless.
I suppose owning a Rolex is a milestone by itself.
