about 2½ months ago, i was casually surfing the web for some information on basel 2012 watches.
something caught my eye. it is a brand that i have not bought any new models for more than 3 years because after the last piece i bought, the prices of watches was heading northwards too quickly for my liking.
i was interested in one of their left hand chrono watch, but the price of this left land chrono watch was price close to $10,000. i felt that it was too pricey for my liking and decided to give it a miss.
several months later, a sales staff called me asking me if i was interested if there is a 35% discount on the watch, would i be interested. i countered offered @ 45% which was politely declined because i knew the cost of the watch. there was no deal.
2½ months ago, when i saw this watch and i said, i must have it. my usual cooling period of 2 months wait went out of the window. i knew that the longer i waited, this watch would not be available anymore. also, it is my first time buying a watch from overseas which is not my style for those who knows me well that i rather pay more to a local seller to get the watch then pay less to get from overseas.
i started to surf the web for sources and came up with 4 sellers. 2 private sellers and 2 dealers. of the 4, i only trusted 1 but the watch model serial was not my first priority. another private seller had the serial number,(-8), i was interested but i was not sure if it would be a good choice. ask around for references and decided not to go to this seller.
i went to chat with another private seller with the next best serial number, (-6). after several emails, i decided i would buy from this seller. as usual, i did most of my pre-check exercises.
because the photo ID of the seller showed where he was working. i was more assured to deal with this seller. i wanted the seller to mail it to singapore but seller was not keen because a previous bad experience when seller shipped a watch to another asian country. though in the end, he managed to get a full refund of the watch, he was not convinced to mail to singapore.
i then had to scramble for alternative plans. then i remember my cousin was coming from the country of the seller who is in. contacted my cousin and ask if my cousin was willing to do me a favour. i pay the money, the seller ship the item to my cousin work place. my cousin was ok. so i quickly tidied the loose ends, send the money and when the money was wired over, the seller mailed the item over immediately. couple of days later, my cousin received the parcel with the watch.
ask my cousin to send me pictures to make sure it is the right watch. all is good. the wait then started for the watch to reach singapore.
so after telling you a long story, the watch is here. in my hands.
anyone wants to make a guess for the brand of this watch?
more pictures will follow......i will reveal the brand in about 2 hours...

- ask for watch to be taken against the current newspaper
- ask for watch to be taken with photo ID of seller
- serial number on warranty card against watch to match serial number
- all other necessary watch pictures from the angles i wanted.
