The journey started over a month ago when i decided to buy a timepiece to reward myself.
2 mates joined me in my hunt and offered their invaluable opinions.
I was initially looking at the iconic Lange 1 but found it too small at 37.5mm (after being so used to wearing 40mm or bigger watches). Then I tried on the stunning Grand Lange 1 at THG and loved it! However, my mates told me that it looks too big on my tiny wrist because it measures 42mm (or slightly bigger). A dress watch shouldn’t be too big and I agree. Besides, I’m still not used to manual winding watches.
Not giving up, I started researching other brands like FP Journe, De Bethune, H.Moser, JLC, and Hautlence. Oh well, I ended up coming back to A.Lange and was not prepared to give it up. Then I found this piece that fits the bill perfectly! The Grand Langematik which is a bigger version than the current model of 37.5mm. It measures 40mm (size of a sporty rolex sub), classic, extremely beautiful finishing/workmanship and it’s automatic!!! Naturally, the next question was “What’s stopping me?” This is an extremely rare piece in our shore and I could only find the Platinum version at Ion THG (retailing at $64K). I’m glad it’s now landed in my modest collection.
I tried to take some nice shots but I’m using a normal camera and I’m not good in photography. I guess the photos don’t do justice to it…anyway, now the photos:
