Got mixed feelings about the Bulgari-Gerald Genta and Daniel Roth co-branding exercise. Gerald Genta, at least, is established enough to stand on its own.
By co-branding, it suggest to the market that Genta and Roth are lesser sub-brands; in jest, what if Swatch did the same for Breguet, Glashute Original and Blancpain?
But of course, one can also argue that it elevates the Bulgari brand in its watch-making extension.
IMHO, it seems like a well-orchestrated effort to rectify Bvlgari's watch-making credibility. By merging all 3 of them together, Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta will "gain" from the world renowned Bvlgari branding - im sure more people have heard of Bvlgari rather than Daniel Roth/GG.
Vice versa, Bvlgari will be able to ride on their their names to establish a stronger watch-making presense amongst the WISes..
Of course, the only detrimental factor would be those bunch of ardent Gerald Genta/Daniel Roth purists - they wouldn't want their watch-making brand to be associated with a lower tier jewellery brand..
On hindsight, perhaps Hour Glass should not have sold them away to the Bvlgari Group...
Lets see how well Bvlgari-Daniel Roth/GG shall perform in terms of revenue, especially in the upcoming fiscal year..Opportunities come once
