  • Moonwatch with a moon!

When I first set my eyes on Omega watches, the one watch I ever want is the speedmaster moonwatch but was too poor to own one during my younger days.

Over the years, I have earned enough to affort much expensive watches and strangely never get the moonwatch but instead went for those "status" watches.

    Until one fine morning today...

(If you think these look like the pictures you saw elsewhere...yes I bought the watch there!)

          It's caliber 1866: 1863 + moonphase/date complication

I thought I saw quite a few offered on this forum...

There is also one in orange bezel on sales at monster time at a reasonable price.

But part of the fun is hunting around...good luck!

I prefer the standard moonwatch, but yeah the moonphase complication is very apt for this watch instead.

After wearing the watch for a week, I can say that the dial is not as busy as some think it is. The silver outline of the 3 registers actually add a dressy look to the classic dial.

And I really enjoy looking at the moonphase. It is so far the most beautiful moonphase I have seen, with the moon and stars in gloss metallic finishing. Every morning while I am driving with my hand on the steering wheel, I would take glances at the moon and stars shinning under the daylight.

Who say you always start the day with a rising sun...

This is not to take away anything from the popular standard moonwatch 3570, which i suspect will make its way back to my collection someday (i had one but flipped it).

Very nice also with the broad arrow

If I am not wrong this is the earlier version around year 2000...? Does it have a see-thru back as well?
