How to test Crystal Sapphire?

I want to check if the glass of my newly acquired used watch is crystal Sapphire , can someone teach me how to carry out a DIY test? Tkx

use a key and rub on it.

if it scratches, then high chance not shapphire

old fashion way but it works.. tap the SC with yr fingernail..if it gives a high pitch "clink" (like clinking of wine glasses) then it's not SC. SC usually gives a lower pitch because it's "thicker" than mineral glass

Yup...that's the way I use too...but then again unless u hav tried it before I think it's gonna be hard to differentiate for him.

One Lao jiao just taught me to put one drop of water on crystal and shake abit then the water said will look like small ball which mineral will not...let me go and try first lah anway tkx for all your generous sharing..Tk U!

hi everybody, some mineral class very tick you can't judge base on this way. I have one very accurate way to test ( i think), put one drop of water on crystal, the water will abit 'concentrate' like small ball. If mineral crystal, water will 'flat' like 'spoiled egg'...Try it with two different class you will know
