  • Vintage Rolex - any problem

    Hi,

Saw some 20 years old Rolexes on sale costing from $1800- $6800, wonder it is worth paying for vintage watches and if the mechanism still can last for how long.

    Any advise?

    Rolex 1920s

This is a Rolex oyster from the early 1920s and it is still running well. If the watch has been under good care and with regular service, it can runs for more then 100 years without much problems.. Look at the various pocket watches, some are more then 200 years. If a 2 years old watch. So, don't worry...

20 year old Rolex is not considered vintage.

To me a vintage should be at least 40 to 50 years dating back at least 1970s/1960s.

My 1960s Day Dates are still running perfectly and I know a guy in the US who collects WW2 era Rollies and they are all running and keeping good time.

No need to worry as vintage watches are quite tough and can work perfectly..this is another example of watches from the 1920s

Mechanical watches are said to be able to last about 250 years or more, with proper servicing and maintainence.

My wife has a cushion shaped Omega from circa 1919..It still runs well. I dont foresee any problems for Rolex watches spanning from vintage 1920s to 1960s

The patina is sweet, for me, i think it is sweet to see your vintage Rolex develop the patina after long period of time, which we do not see in modern Rolex.
