  • Collecting vintage ROLEX

Collecting Rolex watches.....especially Vintage Rolex....can be tricky. When I just started, I got my hands on any vintage Rolex that came my way.GMT 1675....Exp 1 1016.....dates 6694....etc....etc.

Then I came across a book.'VINTAGE ROLEX SPORTS MODELS' by Martin Skeet and Nick Urul.Very good book.I highly reccommend this book.

Taken from this book is a passage that has led me to sell off some of my non diving watches. It goes like this....."A considered collection is to choose a specific area or model to collect......A small collection, if tightly focused, can command a greater value than the sum of its individual pieces"

I have since fine tuned my collection basing on this principle. I now basically collect divers.....especially 'SUBMARINERS',be it ROLEX or TUDOR.When this is done....I'll probably move on to GMTs.....

there are couple of possible places such as golden landmark and far east plaza.

however, u need to do ALOT of homework before purchasing from them.

do note that true vintage collectors are very particular about

                          • case serial
                          • bracelet code
                          • bracelet serial
                          • dials
                          • hands
                          • pearl

                          know what you are buying.

From vintage Rolex collectors like a few people here, including myself

Some fakes floating in the market recently due to unscrupulous sellers.
Even shops get tricked into buying becos they themselves dont know yet enough.

Make sure you do your homework and understand what you are buying.

A vintage Rolex is the most enjoyable timepiece money can buy.

                            Dont look for perfection.
True vintage Rolex lovers understand that it’s about the perfection in the imperfection.

If looking for NOS, it means you are not ready, better go buy new.
