    hi,

    anybody knowledgable about this model?

I've been intrigued by the "pie pan" dial. Short of changing date but turning it round-n-round, is there a short-cut?

Also, I heard that all two-tone steel/YG versions are after-market bezel/crown. Is this true? Another source told me 1601 came in both steel/WG and steel/YG. I know 1603 are all steel only.

Anyone know where to find correct steel/YG bracelet for 1601?

It's a non-quick set...so LL have to slowly turn for the daye.

1601-3 and 1601-4...of which you should know 3 = TT and 4 = WG bezel.

So yes,I can confirm with you that...1601 does come in TT

If you want to find the original TT bracelet....it's not easy...dealers dun really hold it but you can try la.

But seriously..the old bracelet sux...it will be very loose after many years.

Be like me lor..buy the newer 1...hehe

I bought a SS bracelet for my 1601-4...from RSC for $751...

But...a brand new TT bracelet costs something like 3.5k though

Yes...you won't get the latest bracelet that's for sure because it doesnt fit.

You will most probably get the 16234 bracelet.

                  hey darkangel,
I opened up the caseback of the 1601 I am getting. Strangely, the coil-spring is blue! The watch has been serviced 3-4 times, at least once in the last 5-8 years by RSC. I wonder if they replaced the original nivarox spring with parachrome?

                  Anybody had such an experience?

I saw it at at dealer and he didn't know either.

                      hi,
its a piece I've reserved and picking up this coming week.

The spring is BLUE. ... really... dunno why. Last servicing done outside, but the previous servicing before that was done at RSC here.

Go to RSC during lunch time and get a quote, loh. This would give you peace of mind.

Alternatively, there are plenty of watch shops in Chinatown. Ask them to open the bracelet and check the case number against the receipt. But this just means the case and receipt matches - ask them to open the case back. If serviced by RSC or other Rolex centres, they should have the last service engraved on the inside.

So, it's still better just to make a lunch trip to RSC. Look out for that very old auntie service staff. Thanksfully her kind is out of production.

Hey bro! Congrats on your new purchase!

Anyway...don't kill me for saying this but...I feel that if you are uncomfortable with the item..why did you buy it in the first place? Most impt is trust the seller man! Ok that beside the point let me answer your question.

Let me reassure you that if you buy from a preown shop...there is a near impossible chance of getting a fake. So actually it you are worrying too much.

Secondly...if I am not wrong, RSC doesn not check the movement even if they do the authentication. Because from my knowledge..they do a visual check, take down the various serial/model numbers then collect your $75. So it's actually a waste of money going to RSC.

I personally don't wish to see people going to RSC and wasting money...BUT if it helps you to have a peace of your mind...I would say by all means. I think if you pay a small amount of money to have a good night's sleep and a smile on your face. It's worth the buck.

All in all...if you are abit blur reading the above...It's not neccessary.
