Those who buy high, just sell higher. And as long as there is buyers, the higher price will pervail. However if the higher price is not met, the seller will keep. So I doubt there will be market correction anytime soon.

IMO the current pricing of 16710 is, as others have pointed out, simply a case of temporary upsurge in their demand. While demand is a prime factor in pricing, it really does go hand in hand with supply and I just believe that with 16710 being a very popular model as it was before its discontinuation, there will be many in the preowned market down the road. This will happen when many of the present 16710 owners decide to cash in on them due to the high prices that they can command and with more flooding the market, the prices would likely go southwards with increased availabilty. As we have seen in various brands of watches, the only sustainbility factor on pricing is rarity and unfortunately the normal 3185 movement 16710 is just IMO not 1 of them in the short term. juz my humble opinion...
HISTORY IS WRITTEN BY THOSE WHO

        ONLY A BETTER WAY.

... wait a bit... I think GMT prices are beginning to come down a little.

          A new gray 116710 is now $9.6k

16710s are beginning to reappear in the sub $6k range... but may never reach the $4k+ range used , they were a year ago.

luckily i have not bought my GMTII yet, otherwise i would have paid an artifically inflated price.

$6k for GMT? But I think you are right, prices are coming down but will not reach $4+ level...

I think within 6 months to 1 year....the demand would cool off..prices will drop back.

Yes you're right, one year later when new Sub or ExpII is out, people will focus on the so-called discontinued Sub or ExpII then, they will stop hunting GMT loh

but what may happen is that speculators may not want to sell GMTII for less than what they paid for it, thus maintaining price levels.
