5513 Maxi Dials
MK I Maxi Dial
The MK I was originally designed for the Rolex Military Submariners Ref 5517, and the leftovers were then used on civilian Submariner 5513s. The lume plots are larger than on the previous generation of 5512/5513 dials, but the depth rating & SUBMARINER are also bolder and the fonts have changed as well. On these dials, the depth rating (660ft=200m) is above the SUBMARINER font. The last time Submariner dials would have this configuration. SUBMARINER font is shorter than 660ft=200m font. The cross on "f" and "t" in 660ft are aligned.

Serial ~ 3,7xx,xxx – 5,60x,xxx
MK II Maxi Dial
The MK II looks almost exactly the same as the MK 1. With the same large lume plots, Coronet and font. The one main difference, for the first time, is that the depth rating is now placed below the SUMARINER font. SUBMARINER font is shorter than 660ft=200m font. The cross on "f" and "t" in 660ft are aligned.

MK III Maxi Dial
The MK III ran concurrently with the MK II. Many collectors began to call this "Maxi" although it has no relation with the MK I. The MK III has the distinction of having the largest lume plots which were closest to the minute markers, leading to another nickname for this particular variant, "Lollipop" . The font of 660ft=200m had more serif & SUBMARINER print was slightly smaller than MK 1/MK II. Most visible “OPEN” 6 in 660ft. SUBMARINER font is shorter than 660ft=200m font. The cross on "f" and "t" in 660ft are not aligned.

MK IV Maxi Dial
The MK IV is very similar to the MK II, It returned to the same serif style of print, albeit with a few subtle changes in the layout of SUBMARINER & the depth rating. Rolex text and Coronet are also different. Most visible “Closed” 6 in 660ft. SUBMARINER font is shorter than 660ft=200m font. The cross on "f" and "t" in 660ft are aligned.

MK V Maxi Dial
The MK V is the very last variant of the matte 5513 dials, just before the change to Gloss/White Gold surround Dials. For the first time in non-date Sub history, SUBMARINER is printed wider than the depth rating, a characteristic that Rolex would make permanent, until the end of the 5513 production in 1990. MK V had a very short production run, of around 650,000 serials. SUBMARINER font is longer than 660ft=200m font. The cross on "f" and "t" in 660ft are aligned.

Some may not agree with the above dates & chronologies & remember that this is not a bible, so do not follow blindly. But these dates are close enough for me. Some collectors steer clear from the corners, where the ranges meet.
