Just serviced it seems, so not for a while.

According to history, the Audumar Piguet Royal Oak copied their bracelet design from the oysterquartz.

For me, its a nice alternative to the usual jubilee bracelet... and this model is a more affordable cousin to the model 1510 and 1610 which uses the same bracelet, but now costs upward of $15k !

for the usual stick marker face, you can still find it locally for under S$3k.
Buy it if you see one! Still affordable.

the prices of the rarer dials like this one however, have gone up a lot.

But make sure it fits. Rolex charges $300 per link ...

this site has nicer pictures of it.
          Price also quite ok.

              See my PM too.

You can find them for as little as about S$2000 to typically $3500.

Besides the 19-series models, the more affordable ones are the 17000 series and 17013 and 17014. The -013 are in yellow gold and the -014 in white gold.

The 17013 models are the most common, followed by 17000 and 17014.

The best buy are the 17013 models because they were US$5025 new (2001 prices) compared to about US$2000 for the s/s 17000 and US$3000+ for 17014. On resale the prices can be very close for the more common models... but for the rarer dials I expect the price gaps will start widening.

The rarest variants in any of these are the diamond dials, the roman dials and they command slightly more than the usual "stick" dials. The less common dials are white or blue.

              See oysterquartz.net

I believe Bonfield and JW-Watch, both in Singapore currently have one for sale at about S$3500.

Why don't you email that online seller in the link above? I believe he is asking US$2850 for the watch... which is quite ok for this model if it has all the boxes/papers.

See if this one is still for sale.
                  http://www.mjjeweler.com/vin%20m%20oq.htm

I bet less than 1000 pieces were made in this dial , since only 25,000 oysterquartz were ever made in over 20 years!

The similar looking 1610 (?) which is similar case but automatic movement now sells for S$15000 at Monstertime !

Some of you have PM'd me saying you're looking for one.
Here's one... but the bracelet is all steel and not tutone.

Also note that the papers look original, but I am quite sure the box is not.

                    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290150829816

If you intend to buy, make sure it fits you because links will cost you S$300 each.

Same seller has a few others. The tutone bracelet (non-roman) is US$3.7k !

Hello moderators, super lao jiaos, and members,

Just joined SGROC although I have been following the website for some time.....let me intro intro abit about my rollie experience

Previously (couple years back), owned 2....a datejust and a mid size yacht master but sold it off.........need the cash back then.......

                      Anyways, that was history......

Here's where I need help.....I managed to find a rolex 17013 oysterquartz 'abandoned' by my dad.....and as the saying goes......'finders keepers' , it's now mine haha, actually my dad agreed to 'pass it on' to me. I intend to revive this beauty back to 'new' and keep it so i can 'pass it on' too, so I hope some sifus here can help me by providing some info

                      Problems:
                      1) Tons of light scratches on the bracelet............i hope these can be polished off
                      2) The watch is not moving..........hopefully it's the battery problem only.
                      3) Dents on the sapphire crystal edge.........i think this one can change to new crystal
                      4) The case has some serious scratches and deep dents......... Can the case be changed to a new one?
                      5) The clasp has been changed to new in 2001 (YES!), found a receipt of that and probably has been sitting in the drawer collecting dust.

I have been reading various threads on SG-ROC and am very sad to know that a link can cause as much as $300SGD damage

My question is , how much will be the approximate cost of steps 1-4 above? More importantly, I would like to know is step 4 can be achieved.
(Praying that it would be within reach, else it might not be worth it to rescue this beauty)

Oh yah, I dont have any pictures of this watch yet and being a noob, I dunno much but here's a little info on the watch.......gold rolex logo at 12 o clock, roman dials (black printed, not the the type that sticks out a little of the dial), black hour-minute-second hands, white dial, gold fluted bezel, TT, T SWISS T at 6 o'clock, ROLEX OYSTERQUARTZ DATEJUST, SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED......my dad say if he remembers correctly, he got it somewhere during the mid 80's (NO BOX OR PAPERS...my dad not really the type who keeps these things )

wahlaneh! what a long post...sorry sorry, got a bit excited......

ANY HELP DEEPLY APPRECIATED..........planning to pay a visit to RSC KL next week.

                      THANKS!!

                        sounds like

                        1) can be polished off
                        2) hard to say. if battery corroded inside and the chemical damaged the parts. good luck
                        3) can be changed
                        4) what may look serious, can be polished off as well. depending on their recommendation

no reason why cannot change case in worst case scenario

Just 1 thing to add...coz I think Triton has answered all your questions.

It should be a Acrylic crystal...not a Sapphire crystal...so chances are have to change..

I think the whole change should set you back about few hundred to a thousand. If you want to save abit...skip the change of case part of it's not too serious

Thanks for the tips, will probably go to RSC KL tomorrow to get an idea of the damage first....like triton said, hopefully they can polish the case and solve the issue

and now.........need to google 'acrylic crystal' to read more about it. (haha, i only know sapphire crystal )

                              Thanks!
