Why Vintage?

Well I am in my early 30s but i still like the look of vintage rolex. It has a very cool factor to it. The crystal looks a lot better than ones uses these days. Modern design looks very to date with new materials and new looks. But vintage has this nice feel to it. The vintage i have is even older than myself!

Old style plexi glass is not difficult to find, just head down to ebronzeage or tophour and you can find it with ease. And especially when aftermarket crystals are made exact to the OEM specs, I don't find it a problem. When I send in a vintage rolex to RSC for verification, I have never once seen the technician inspect the plexiglass.

if its s. crytal, the impact that caused a small chip off his 1500 may shatter your s.crytal

oic, but than it is troublesome sia, cos i often and accidentally hit the glass, so i personally prefer crystal over plastic.

Personally I do not have any vintage watches in my current collection but I supposed their 'uniqueness' do appeal to some collectors?

For some...well they feel that vintage watches are in a sense less common and more rare in the market.

Back 30 years ago...Rolex production is not like today's 800,000 watches a year. Maybe it could be 100,000 a year. Which makes their production(supply) lower. With the new professional series being more popular, people who want to stand out from the crowd would prefer vintage pieces. That beside the point, some vintage watches have more meaning to some and hav some historic value in some cases.

okok jking....cos production of those models is much less than the modern ones bah so highly collectable....

Vintage more expensive?

Strange but I see some comments of vintage being expensive. Unless you go for the rare red sub, I don't think vintage piece being much more expensive than current sports models.

A GMT2C is around the 9K region. Most vintage GMT and Sun cost less.....

Well..we cannot compare it like this...

I would compare those of the same era with it...so we are comparing on the same line.

Vintage Datejust compared to Vintage Daytona. Datejust is valued at ard 2.8k-3k now...while Daytona is about 30k.

I point is if you can afford a new GMT2C which cost 9k, a vintage GMT will cost less. Hence why is vintage said to be expensive?

A new Sub cost around the same as a vintage sub, not talking about red sub....

A new justdate cost even more than a vintage piece.....

Btw gmtiic ss released somewhere in 2008. Price has been falling. Bow 8k nw can get. Vintage on the other hand rises. Hence ur comparison on the gmt not really correct
