  • Lesson learned

Over the weekend I learned a lesson about getting vintage warches. My 6694 crown had dislodged and I sent in it to the nearest qaulified repairer who made an assessment on it which showed a number of things I did not realise:

    The dial was reconditioned
The lubrication had dried up (even though it was suppose to have been recently service)
The movement was due for a little tuning
Condition inside the case could have been a little better

I had expected some issues due to the age of the watch but was a slightly disappointed that there were more issues than expected. The lesson learnt was it pays to always have someone qualified to take a look first before a purchase and I was fortunate that this lesson did not cost me too much.

4 weeks wait and a little more cash is the cost but I should have a decent Rolex for a good number of years after the servicing and repairs.

Do not feel discouraged. That is part and parcel of collecting and using vintage watches. Once it is up and running, you will have something that is unique in terms of color and patina. Enjoy!

Thanks but I am not discouraged but just a lesson to especially new preowned watch buyers. Actually I am missing my watch now and can't wait to get it back from the shop.

Luckly is a 6694, what happen if is a Day/Date, Daytona or YM II.
        You will cry louder.

6694 is not a bad choice, wish it will bring you good luck.

If sell fake pass off as real and ask people to **** off, then better let the Mods handle it, right?
