Over the weekend I learned a lesson about getting vintage warches. My 6694 crown had dislodged and I sent in it to the nearest qaulified repairer who made an assessment on it which showed a number of things I did not realise:
The dial was reconditioned
The lubrication had dried up (even though it was suppose to have been recently service)
The movement was due for a little tuning
Condition inside the case could have been a little better
I had expected some issues due to the age of the watch but was a slightly disappointed that there were more issues than expected. The lesson learnt was it pays to always have someone qualified to take a look first before a purchase and I was fortunate that this lesson did not cost me too much.
4 weeks wait and a little more cash is the cost but I should have a decent Rolex for a good number of years after the servicing and repairs.
