  • Authenticating a Deepsea

Hi, newbie here. Gonna plunge head in and go for a preowned Deepsea. I'm just wondering, at RSC, will they even open up the case to authenticate its movements? Isn't it pressure sealed?

They will definitely open the case back to check the movement during authentication. But personally I dun think by opening the watch case, it will affect its water resistance unless it's an old watch that has worn seal...

IC. I'm just wondering then, if RSC will perform the check in a pressure controlled chamber then? I've got a Citizen dive watch and it had to be opened in a pressure chamber to maintain its integrity - but it was a quartz model, dunno if the mechanics in a rolex can still perform at normal atmospheric levels vs 200m below.

This is very interesting. I don't recall seeing any special pressure control apparatus at the SG RSC. Maybe the best answer would be to give RSC a call to ask.

this might not be RSC but it gives you an idea of the equipment possible.

They do open up to check movement. Not sure if they do a water pressure test after locking.

Wouldn't they check the watch pressure in a vacuum tank?

If the watch is old, I doubt they would do the water pressure test.
If you are only paying for a authentication. But you can specifically query that before handing the watch over the counter.
RSC would probably upsell you the full service of $920.
Thereafter they would assure you can bring your watch deep diving for 2 years.

Not many pepole actually wear it to dive anyway.
So i doubt they actually do the pressure check.

As long it is waterproof, its ok to them.
