    Will Rolex discon Explorer 2?

    Hi all gurus

    Since Rolex had been developing replacement models for all sports models... I reckon Explorer 3 is on the horizon as well as Yacht Master 2.

    Thought of getting the current models to keep.... what is the price of explorer 2 now? I thought of getting black face but I have GMT 2 liao so I thought white face will be different.

    Thought of collecting the whole series.... and keep.

    If you like the piece just go ahead and buy it. Don't wait for the model to be discontinued. By then the price may reach the "unreasonable" range. I believe a BNIB now should be in the region of $6K.

      rolex seems to be changing the different sports and dress models to the larger case n new bracelet. i am sure it will reach the explorer eventually.

          agreed with bro ejaan,buy it if you like it don't buy it becos its' discon. All the models will be discon "someday",but i can't afford to have them all..only those i really liked,and will keep them for a long long time.Don't follow my footstep on the GMT..which i paid list for it..

            Based on my observation of GMT 2 phase-in of new model

            2006 - New TT GMT 2 introduced
            2007 - New SS GMT 2 introduced
            2008 - Sub Ceramics (BLUE and GOLD) introduced. DSS Introduced

            This is my crystal ball prediction...

            Basel 2009 - SS Sub will be phased our replaced by CERAMIC dial

            > 2009
            - Explorer and Explorer 2 will be discontinued. New Explorer 1 will be 40mm like MiGAUSS
            - DateJust will be > 36mm i.e. like the new Day Date size of 41mm


            YM and DAYTONA - no idea though

              if one reads timezone regularly, news is ss sub will be 2010..........

              cos tt sub is slated for basel 09........

                  They won't go past the number 2 I think...as far as it is now...unless they try something special. They will just do a facelift
