    I saw one ivory dial at a HongKong dealer last year too. Asked for fun how much he selling... was quoted HKD81,000.

    If I am not wrong, there's some background to this particular model. Somehow it is considered to be some error production by Rolex and it's extremely rare now thus very collectible.

    explorer 2 with ivory dial (16550) paper dated 1984

    guess how much is the price? S$21,500...kid you not...

    not sure if it's their typo error or there's something special about this rollie..

    Chanced upon this forum while researching for rolex watches..

    am looking at explorer 1 in particular..
    went to a preowned shop in katong shopping center about 1 year ago..
    the owner quoted me $3.7k..

    anyone can give me a rough gauge how much a new one costs today?
    if not convienent, can PM me..

    Of course. Exp I and Exp II are completely different watches. Can't compare them together

    Both Explorer series and Submariner series have their own legacy. Each series tell a long long heritage and story. One day one night also not enough.
    One raced to conquer the altitude while the other sinked to the deeper depths.



    But amongst the explorer series, Explorer 1 tend to be 'sidelined' to Explorer II, although latter is more lao jiao and offers great heritage.
