no worries.. i had the same problem trying see it too.. and similarly i started to doubt that the LEC was really there.. until one day i was playing ard with my digi cam and managed to see the LEC..

Not easy to see but it's there near the 6 o'clock position. Its prolly easier if u can use some form of magnification and u also try changing the angle at which light hits the crystal.

Hmm.. I also can't see the micro-etched crystal on the new G series Explorer 2 bought from overseas AD.. Weird..
