  • What's your opinion on Rolex GMT Master/2 Root Beer?

Hi, I would like to know why is the Root Beer GMT Master priced much higher than the rest of the other GMT Master models. The Root Beer does not look very aesthetically appealing buy yet command a premium. Care to share your opinion?

Personally, it's my fav GMT especially on a TT Jubilee...

Looks much better on the wrist than on paper. Also the way the Jublilee catches the light is much better than a TT Oyster bracelet...

Still hunting for my piece sigh

My guess is that it was not a popular combination compared to the half gold blue sub. Thus it's rarity in the preowned market. Furthermore the jubilee combination for sport model has been discontinued for quite some time and it may be difficult to find one which does not have too much of stretch. Looking at old 1990s catalogue, the root beer even had an option with diamond and rubies. I have yet to see the actual watch in this configuration. So I guess if we look for models which are not so popular today, these could potentially become collectible in the future? Regret selling off my new model Turnograph as I understand that it has been recently discontinued.

It was seen b4 in 1 of the pre-owned advertiser shop (HJ) selling it, not sure if it's still available? Imho, due to its rarity n being a discontinued model, plus any serious demand for it, will no doubt attract a premium price for it lor?

I think its a great combination actually. The rootbeer color goes well with the TT bracelet. saw it in some 2nd hand dealer shop in hong kong but didn't take the plunge as it was without any cert.
